MagicCon Chicago!
Members from Swish Gaming went to MagicCon in Chicago and participated in a wide variety of events and formats. From an 8-man single elim draft all the way up the Pro Tour itself!
Everyone commented how great it was to see people they hadn’t seen in a long time, whether friends, judges, or even old opponents from the NRG Series. These new MagicCons fill a niche that went away when the old Grand Prix system faded out. But they arguably do it better because they take the competitive aspect and provide extra substance. The guys all mentioned how cool it was to see so many vendors, artists, content creators, panels, pros, and more. Items of note include a signed Kaja Foglio playmat, winning an RCQ invite, finishing a set of Gaea’s Cradle, playing against Dana Fischer in the Sealed PTQ, and cashing in prize tix for LCI Set Boosters.
Outside the event itself, there was also talk about one of the general benefits of gaming travel: food! Whether it was finding a great tortellini at Pizanos or dumplings at Hing Kee, getting to include ‘the Gathering’ as part of the Magic experience is always great.
