Lotus Field In Pioneer

Hello! With the new RCQ season being pioneer, I wanted to talk about and revisit my favorite deck, Lotus Field! Lotus Field has always been an important part of the metagame and with new additions from Karlov Manor, the deck is looking even stronger than it was before.

Archdruid’s charm has changed the way the deck is constructed in a really big way. The card giving you more access to Lotus Field/Thespian's stage means you can trim down on Stage and play more Temple of Mystery and even the new surveil land from Karlov Manor as additional card filtering, which is always very welcome in combo decks. Along with tutoring for the lands, now Fae of Wishes can be our card to tutor for Approach of the Second Sun out of our sideboard to win the game because Charm can find Fae. Charm also allows you to play powerful one-of creatures in your 75 that you can tutor for on a whim, including a board wipe in the form of Realm-Cloaked Giant! Along with all the tutoring capabilities, Charm still has two additional modes! The more relevant of these is the disenchant mode which is fantastic as it can remove your opponent's hate pieces. The final mode to add a +1/+1 counter to one of your creatures and deal damage equal to its power to one of your opponents creatures is very narrow in this deck and will not happen often, but always keep it in mind as an option in the back of your head as you never know when your Arboreal Grazer needs to pick off a pesky one-toughness creature. Because of Archdruid’s charm, the deck has moved away from the Chandra, Hope’s Beacon looping win-condition in favor of playing Fae of Wishes to get Approach of the Second Sun from our sideboard to win the game, along with giving us access to some other utility to tutor if needed. Lotus Field is looking like a strong choice for the upcoming pioneer season for anyone who enjoys combo decks with complex lines that reward knowing your deck and the format very well. Below will be a sideboard guide for some of the most popular decks in the format, good luck and have fun at your RCQs!
